Yes, I realize we're not blogging this week

Which is why I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity to post two links and give minimal explanation for why.

UBUWeb

the uninformative wikipedia entry for UBUWEB

So, it's an archive created by poet Kenneth Goldsmith. I'm linking it for a few reasons, 1. it archives avant-garde art online. 2. According to Goldsmith it archives this art without any attention paid to format--which... obviously there's some formatting inevitably involved, so what Goldsmith means is up to interpretation. 3. and this is passed over on the wikipedia entry, UBUWeb does not ask permission from any of the artists whose works are on the website, which I would think would lead to a lot of copyright issues, but apparently leads to relatively few, and typically not at the hands of the artists. Anyway, I'm not going to explain this! (And I keep going...) It raises a lot of questions about web archiving, distribution, and copyright (and answers a few). Also, Goldsmith has expressed a desire to make UBUWeb inaccessible to the google search engine, but not inaccessible. His hope is that people will find UBUWeb in other ways, like links from other places. Here's our link.
